Increased demand for digitization solutions

CSB-System AG is pleased about the results of this year's Anuga FoodTec: Several hundred visitors from more than 30 countries countries informed themselves about digitization solutions and technologies for better food production from the industry specialist.
With its thematic focus “Smarten Up Your Factory”, the software specialist has hit the nerve of many trade fair visitors. Two years ago, the main topic of discussion was the fundamental possibilities of Industry 4.0, but this time it was about concrete, already usable technologies for smart food production. “Companies have recognized their need for action in matters of digitization. Many are taking a two-fold approach: On the one hand, they are looking for solutions that offer direct economic added value. On the other hand, every investment should already open the door to the factory of the future. We were able to present some interesting products from this field of tension”, says CSB Head of Sales Hermann Schalk.
Great interest in ERP and industrial image processing
At the CSB stand it became clear that ERP systems continue to be the most important element in the digitization activities of companies. With a view to the Smart Food Factory, many users see the ERP system as the data hub for digitizing and optimizing their business processes. There was particularly strong demand for CSB Factory ERP, which is specially adapted to the production processes. With this comparatively new type of ERP, food companies benefit from an industry-specific ERP system for optimal operational control of their factories.
The solutions from the field of industrial image processing presented at the trade fair also offer major efficiency advantages: The COD-Eyedentifier, for example, can be used to test the quality of raw materials directly at incoming goods fully automatically. The new CSB Unit Recognition, also a camera-based system, can record empties quickly and automatically: Identifying, counting, documenting – all these steps are carried out simultaneously and without manual effort.
Further interesting highlights: The new CSB Web Apps, the CSB Linecontrol control station application and integrated production planning.
International FoodTec Award for automation solution
Producers also see many opportunities to operate more cost-effectively and efficiently in the automation of processes. In order to remain as flexible as possible, the decoupling of process steps is becoming increasingly important. This is shown by one solution from CSB-Automation AG, which was awarded the International FoodTec Award in silver at Anuga FoodTec.This is shown by one solution from CSB-Automation AG, which was awarded the International FoodTec Award in silver at Anuga FoodTec. The “ProMessa 2020” project succeeded in automating the entire intralogistics of a medium-sized self-service meat producer and implementing the Smart Food Factory vision. The heart of the solution is the automated intralogistics technology, which is controlled and monitored by the IT system. With this, a high delivery performance (99%) is achieved despite short order lead times with simultaneous low stocking and high stock turnover.
