Promptness is the secret of success for food wholesaler FRIPA: From customer order to delivery, the company needs less than 24 hours. A software solution from CSB-System ensures smooth process flows.

FRIPA’s product range, two thirds of which are fresh products, leaves nothing to be desired. At its site in Bensheim, FRIPA stores meat products, fish, baked goods, delicatessen, cheese, vegetables and spices on an area of about 2,900 square meters. The customers, who are mainly from the food serving industry, can get from FRIPA everything they need. Twenty years ago, Wolfgang Hahl and his son Ralf have decided to introduce the CSB-System. “This software always has supported the growth of our company in an optimal manner, so over the years we have activated more and more modules. Today, we control all processes with IT and benefit from efficient order handling – from order entry up to delivery,” says managing director Ralf Hahl.

Multichannel sales

Traditional telephone sale is the primary sales channel for the about 6,000 items. Many customers place their orders by means of EDI, e-mail or fax. At 3 am already, it’s time for the first members of the staff to start processing the orders received during the night. And from 7 am, during the peak time, the telephones hardly ever stop ringing.

Optimally serving and delivering just in time to 900 customers is quite a challenge for the internal and external workflows. The ERP system by CSB supports the employees in order entry by directly displaying on screen any relevant details about customers, order behavior, products, quantities, prices and inventory stock. All the staff needs to do is to enter the orders in the system and release them for picking. By now, the customers can also order their products online, outside traditional business hours. Just recently, FRIPA started up a B2B online shop developed by CSB-System in order to have all the advantages of state of- the-art multichannel sales.
